Influx: The Campaign

Influencer marketing has recently been a popular form of marketing using influencers to drive a brand’s message and product to their audience on social media. Brands offer money or give influencers free products to promote their product. It is a constantly growing industry that is developing strategies to be more invasive online. Even the guidelines set by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2017 have not affected the industry's growth, which is harder to regulate when it comes to micro-influencers, meaning influencers with 10 to 100 thousands followers.

The Influx project shines a light on the issue for teenagers who are just starting to use social media. The goal of Influx is not to demonize this form of marketing, but instead provide teenagers knowledge on influencer marketing so they can become smarter consumers.
